New to area, moved here last summer, 07. We love it! We were Texans/Arkansas'ers and decided to come back home to be near family. I am a some-what newly single mom. (Please don't hold that against me! Ha!) I have started dating again and having a blast with it. My family and friends are saying "FINALLY!". Just bought my first house! With my son, I am very involved/committee with his scouting and help at his school all that I can (Bookfair/PTO/Field Trips...). Right now, we are all about Nerf guns, Star Wars, and guitar hero. (Yes, I play too!) For me, I love book stores, Starbucks, movies, reading, dinner and a glass of wine with great friends.
Sports:
Well, I was raised in an Oklahoma Sooner family so its great to get with the family and listen to the uncles yell at the t.v. My son and I love going to local high school football and basketball games. I love watching my son play soccer. Also, love college basketball.
Music:
WOW! Lots of variety so CHECK IT OUT! For the most part, we listen to christian contempory music on the radio. I don't have to worry about my child hearing about long-neck specials and wet-t-shirt contests! Ha!
Movies:
I love the period movies like Pride & Prejudice, Emma, Sense & Sensibility, oh the The Other Bolyn Girl, sooo good if you did not see it! Sex & The City was great, The Dark Knight was awesome, saw twice. I am drawing a blank but I know that I saw more this summer. I grew up watching old movies with Joan Crawford (Straight Jacket, What Ever Happened To Baby Jane), Rock Hudson (Giant, Pillow Talk), Liz Taylor (Giant, Cat On A Hot Tin Roof), Doris Day (Pillow Talk), Ester Williams (Neptune's Daughter), too many of them are my fav's.
TV:
My DVR stays busy! Ha!! My favorite t.v shows are Private Practice, Grey's Anatomy, Samantha Who, Desperate Housewives, Lipstick Jungle, Housewives of Orange County, Tori & Dean, Flipping Out, and I still love to watch Drake & Josh with my son. Ha! I am still in FRIENDS mourning so I DVR all episodes!!! lol! I also like HGtv, Food network (Paula's Party), travel channel...
Books:
Where to start! I read just about everything I pick up and am also a magazine junkie. In the Self-Help/Business category, my fav's are Whale Done, Who Moved My Cheese, Making Horses Drink, Execution: The Art Of Getting Things Done. Family related: Raising Boys by James Dobson (very good!), The Driven Purpose. Romances: anything by Stephanie Laurens, Victoria Alexander, Jane Feather, lets just say that I have read too many of these! With my son: Diary Of A Wimpy Kid (Laugh Out Loud Hilarious!!!)
Heroes/Idols:
My mother (1956-2002). A single mom since we were tots, worked shift work at a glass plant, raising two daughters, we never were without. Now that I am a single mom, I am in total Awe of her. I just don't know how she did it. I miss you momma!
