The California State Military Reserve (CSMR) is a state defense force formed during the World War I to provide for a homeland defense. Today, the CSMR serves as an active military reserve whose mission is to support the National Guard, and to fill in when the National Guard is deployed elsewhere.
The CSMR has taken a larger role in homeland security during the war on terror, and has provided much support for the State of California while National Guardsmen serve in Iraq and Afghanistan under Federal order.
We may not be federal, but we are authentic soldiers.
