I Can't Believe It's FINALLY Happened, At Last!!!

I knew the day would come someday, even though it's been a L O N G wait...and now it's finally happened...

I got paid by Yuwie!!!

Yup, it might have taken me 2 years, but I've just earned me a whopping $5.28!  It's might not change my lifestyle very much, but it is at least something I would not have earned by using MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, etc., so I think that's pretty cool.

100 tips, tools, and resources-to help you survive without a job

I just found an awesome article on tips and resources to help you survive without a job after being laid off, etc.  In this day and age, I figured this is really something a lot of people can use and benefit from.  (That job market is a jungle out there!)

And when I say "100", I really do mean 100 legitimate items on this list...there's a ton of info and ideas included.  Here's a link to the article:

www.examiner.com/x-11194-Cleveland-Unemployment-Examiner~y2009m6d21-100-tipstools-and-resourcestohelp-you-survive-without-a-job

I found this while researching to build my own site on money making/saving ideas, so it will probably be included somewhere.  You can check it out to see how it comes along as I work on it at: www.hotsmartmoneytips.com

And for those of you who are victims of this strange ecomonic downturn, best of luck in your own job hunting and/or business building efforts!

The New Yuwie "Member Market"

I don't know about you, but I like this new Member Market feature of Yuwie!  I think it might be just what Yuwie needed to rejuvinate interest and enthusiasm among its members.

I know I've seen an increase in both my page views and in the number of friends I've had online at any given time since it started this week.  So I think it's good for Yuwie, and in turn good for all of us members too.

Plus, it's kinda funny to see your friends start fighting over who gets to "own" you!  (You know who you are!)  LOL

My First Attempt At Creating A Yuwie Layout (It's NOT Good!) LOL

I've been experimenting with trying to create new Yuwie layouts lately, but I'm not having much luck using Yuwie's "Layout Generator".  It does not do what it's supposed to do in many cases, such as images appear in more than one place at a time, and sometimes only parts of them, etc.  For an example of what I mean, just go to this page to see how bad my first attempt turned out: lol

http://ww1.yuwie.com/layouts/preview.asp?pv=0&tid=218025

Has anyone else had this type of problem?  If so, what am I doing wrong, if anything?  Or is it just what I think, and there are so few people who try to do this that Yuwie has never got around to correcting this problem?  Any tips would be appreciated...thanks!

Crazy News: Woman Calls 911 over Chicken McNuggets!

Here's something I stumbled on today...one of those news stories that really gets your attention because it's so strange.  LOL

According to the AP today, a Florida woman recently called 911 (not once, but THREE times!?) because the McDonald's she was in ran out of chicken McNuggets.  She didn't want to settle for the double hamburger they offered her instead, so she saw this as an emergency!  LOL

Here's the whole story if you'd like to read it and see her picture too:

Your Name, And What It Really Means
My friend Margaret found a website that automatically analyzes your name numerically and gives you a descr i ption of yourself based on the meaning of it. I wouldn't normally think this is something that could actually work, but in both hers and my case it really did a surprisingly good job of describing us. Naturally, not everything made sense, but the amount of stuff that did was pretty impressive.

It's pretty cool, and it's totally free to use. If you'd like to try it, all you do is enter in your full name and the website does the rest. Here's a link to the website:

http://www.paulsadowski.com/Numbers.asp

In case you're curious, the following is the report that it ran for me, based on my own name. I cheated just a little bit and left out my middle name, since the descr i ption it came up with sounded so much more accurate for me than when I included it.  (Maybe there's something to it, since my parents weren't in total agreement on what my middle name should be.)

I think this sounds pretty close for the most part, other than a couple of weird lines here and there. (Like the very last section for instance.) lol  But considering it's based only on my name, it's surprisingly good!

What your first name means:
ShakespeareanMale'Henry IV' Prince. 'Henry VI' John Talbot. 'King Henry VI, III' John Mortimer, Montgomery, & Somerville. 'King John'. 'Merry Wives of Windsor' John Falstaff. 'Much Ado About Nothing' Don John. 'Richard II' John of Gaunt. 'Romeo And Juliet' Friar.
HebrewMaleJehovah has been gracious; has shown favor. In the bible John the Baptist baptized Christ in the Jordan river. Variants have been created in almost every language.
BiblicalMaleThe grace or mercy of the Lord

Your number is: 4

The characteristics of #4 are: A foundation, order, service, struggle against limits, steady growth.

The expression or destiny for #4:
Order, service, and management are the cornerstones of the number 4 Expression. Your destiny is to express wonderful organization skills with your ever practical, down-to-earth approach. You are the kind of person who is always willing to work those long, hard hours to push a project through to completion. A patience with detail allows you to become expert in fields such as building, engineering, and all forms of craftsmanship. Your abilities to write and teach may lean toward the more technical and detailed. In the arts, music will likely be your choice. Artistic talents may also appear in such fields as horiculture and floral arrangement, as well. Many skilled physicians and especially surgeons have the 4 Expression.

The positive attitudes of the 4 Expression yield responsibility; you are one who no doubt, fulfills obligations, and is highly systematic and orderly. You are serious and sincere, honest and faithful. It is your role to help and you are required to do a good job at everything you undertake.

If there is too much 4 energies present in your makeup, you may express some of the negative attitudes of the number 4. The obligations that you face may tend to create frustration and feelings of limitation or restriction. You may sometimes find yourself nursing negative attitudes in this regard and these can keep you in a rather low mood. Avoid becoming too rigid, stubborn, dogmatic, and fixed in your opinions. You may have a tendency to develop and hold very strong likes and dislikes, and some of these may border on the classification of prejudice. The negative side of 4 often produces dominant and bossy individuals who use disciplinarian to an excess. These tendencies must be avoided. Finally, like nearly all with 4 Expression, you must keep your eye on the big picture and not get overly wrapped up in detail and routine.

Your Soul Urge number is: 3

A Soul Urge number of 3 means:
With the Soul Urge number 3 your desire in life is personal expression, and generally enjoying life to its fullest. You want to participate in an active social life and enjoy a large circle of friends. You want to be in the limelight, expressing your artistic or intellectual talents. Word skills may be your thing; speaking, writing, acting, singing. In a positive sense, the 3 energy is friendly, outgoing and always very social.

You have a decidedly upbeat attitude that is rarely discouraged; a good mental and emotional balance.

The 3 Soul Urge gives intuitive insight, thus, very high creative and inspirational tendencies. The truly outstanding trait shown by the 3 Soul Urge is that of self-expression, regardless of the field of endeavor.

On the negative side, you may at times become too easygoing and too optimistic, tending to scatter forces and accomplish very little. Often, the excessive 3 energy produces non-stop talkers. Everyone has faults, but the 3 soul urge doesn't appreciate having these pointed out.

Your Inner Dream number is: 1

An Inner Dream number of 1 means:
You dream of being a leader and one who is in charge. You want to be known for your courage, daring, and original ideas. You seek unconquered heights. People may get a first impression that you are very aggressive and sure of yourself.

Creating Separate Comment Sections...Good or Bad?
Creating separate sections for your Yuwie comments seems to be a big thing here lately, as well as the growing debate as to whether it's worthwhile, or even the right thing to do.

I know my own first reaction was that it's really pretty inconvenient to be forced to load someone's page just to send them a quick little comment. Especially when that person's page may be one of those that takes forever to come up. And is it just me, or doesn't it seem like the people that have huge, slow pages to load are often the ones that do this with their comments?

To be honest, I've stopped exchanging regular comments with some people who have gone to this format, requiring that comments be posted into a separate blog on their page. I've got what I consider a lot of friends on here, and to have to do that with everyone I ever exchange comments with means I'd never have time to send as many as I'd like...it would just take way too much time.

I've seen some people argue that if you care about them enough, you'll be willing to take the extra step and still leave them comments...but let's face it...is that really what they're after? I get the impression that they're actually more interested in just getting credit for as many page views as they can, than just receiving friendly comments. And in a way, I guess I can't really blame them for that - we should get credit for what we deserve.

However, my feeling is that if someone cares enough to send you something, you shouldn't refuse to receive it just because it wasn't placed on the correct place on your page. (I have seen some people even go so far as to not approve comments not left in their special comment blog, and comment back something to the effect of, "Get it right next time.")

Others argue that they do it to avoid slowing their page down from having lots of html graphics comments on their main page. But in reality, it's usually elaborate layouts, music players and those news feed video boxes on their page that make it extra slow to load completely.

I think the best way to deal with this would be to offer both the regular comments area and your own special one, if you choose to create one. That way you'd still be able to receive comments from everyone willing to send you one at all, and you'd also see who's really paying attention to your page and posting in your favored area. The best of both worlds! :)

I think it kind of takes the fun out of it lately though, having to remember which members actually get offended if you leave them a comment in their regular comment section. (Some really do seem to be offended by that.)

Personally, I don't plan on creating a separate comment area on my own page, since I'd rather just make it easy for anyone to leave me a comment in any way they choose. I think that's more like what Yuwie was really meant to be.

P.S. - I consider receiving ratings from people to be the best way to know for sure they really gave you a real page view, since there's no shortcut for sending those.
