It was mislabeled here on another Yuwie-er's submission--only one wrong word, but a fairly-important one.
The song was mostly that chorus and Johnny Lang's guitar/scat solo (with a little opening verse about some girl who thought that she was supposed to get all this good stuff in a relationship when she hadn't given anything ... or something ...)
If I were to argue against "Get What You Give," I would bring up the fact that 'you cannot give what you do not have, and thus you have to get before you can give.'
But that's not exactly true. Sometimes you give something by intending to give it once you have it (e.g. I tell you 'If I had a gazillion dollars to spare, I'd build a Buddhist temple and invite all the followers I could,' and one of you donates to me--not 'a gazillion dollars,' but rather the deed to the property and the paid construction orders).
And sometimes you get so well-known for giving and using-wisely, you are given more-and-more to also use so-wisely.
Which is one reason that I always tithe out of what I am given. That, and I live to show others the way to live!
What do you 'give' in your life?
